The most recent book I have finished is a book about Mindfulness. There are instructions for facing your inner critic and letting go of all the things we have absolutely no control over. There are lessons on energy and fear, but mostly on awareness. We have become a society that doesn’t observe when we react and observes when we should be acting.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. I had times where passages hit home and I cried. There were other passages where I laughed out loud. Who is this book for; everyone! It is for those dealing with trauma, fear, low self esteem, and life. Life is hard, I think this books helps us learn the tools to navigate through a bit smoother.
Back Cover: Who are you really? What would it be like to be free from limitations and soar beyond your boundaries? What can you do each day to find this kind of inner peace and freedom! The Untethered Soul offers a simple, profoundly intuitive answer to these questions. Whether this is your first exploration of inner space or you’ve devoted your life to the inward journey, this book will transform your relationship with yourself and the world around you.
The Untethered Soul begins by walking you through your relationship with your thoughts and emotions, helping you uncover the source and fluctuations of your inner energy. It then delves into what you can do to free yourself from the habitual thoughts, emotions, and energy patterns that limit your consciousness. Finally, with perfect clarity, this book opens the door to a life lived in the freedom of your innermost being.
My Notes:
Internal Dialogue – We think that our inner voice is us, but it isn’t. It is a voice that narrates our lives. It has opinions on everything. It’s like the backseat driver of your life. The voice’s opinions are made of all of the people in your life up until now.
Inner Roommate – Remember the inner dialogue? Pretend the inner dialogue is a person. Now pretend this person is on the outside of your mind, like a room mate in your home. They hangout with you wherever you go. You can even give this roommate a name and address him as a completely different person.
Your Awareness – The actual you inside. The one witnessing the experiences your physical self is going through. The you that notices your inner critic. The you that is learning from all the experiences you go through.
Reality – We are a Soul having a human experience. Our Chakras open the energy gates. Our body houses our soul. Our body uses the energy and allows our soul to experience this world and this life.
Keeping our Chakras Open – We should be keeping our Chakras unblocked and open for energy to pass through us. What are Chakras? They are the gates onside of our bodies that allow energy to pass into different expressions.
Allow Experiences – We need to not retreat into ourselves and let life pass us by. Protecting ourselves from life will make us resentful and regret the opportunities that we had missed due to our fear. Building those walls up will keep us from being free or be able to grow as people.
God is Love and Love is Energy – This may be the only religion we need. God is Love. Love is Energy. Love is the life energy that courses through us all. God is always with us as we draw breath, and when we do not, we are with Him. How simple and uncomplicated is that?
My Favorite Line – My favorite line in the book is “Darkness is just the blockage of Light” Love is that Light, our way of indulging in our emotions creates the darkness. If we but learn to accept it yet not sit in the darkness, we will experience more Light.
I hope that my notes have made some sense to you and has enticed you to read The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer. I’m sure there are a lot of great points that I didn’t document. I enjoyed reading this book and want to read it again and again as there is so much wisdom to take in the first time. I feel that this will be one of those books where we would glean new information each and every time we sit down and read it.
