It is absolutely crucial to have goals. Goals give us direction and something to strive for. Many of us have goals that we don’t outwardly say or write down to make them “official”, but we have them none the less. Some of us actively envision our goals on a daily basis to manifest them into reality. Some of us just Dream our dreams but never take the steps to make them come true.
In July 2021 I decided to have 1 big goal for the month instead of many goals. My Big goal for this month is to Preserve the Harvest. Now there will be smaller goals that correlate with the large goal. This will help me to accomplish my master goal for this month and to set into my routine what needs to continue from there.
To Preserve the Harvest I must:
Be consistent. On a daily basis I need to check my garden for ripe produce and pests. I also need to keep up on watering, weeding, and supporting plants as they grow. Then I need to Can, freeze, or dry the produce that I bring in from the garden.
New plants and more. In the beginning of this month I need to succession plant my summer squash, green beans, cucumbers, and herbs. I will also have already started my fall garden seeds. These seeds will be lettuce, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts, Kale, Chinese Cabbage, Onions, and Spinach. As I go to stores throughout the next several months I aim to buy a little extra meat, cheese and produce to preserve.
Keep improving on infrastructure. I want to keep adding garden beds and arch trellises. I also want to clear more space for the garden. As time goes on, I want to keep adding more perennial plants and trees that produce food without being replanted year after year.
To keep me accountable I will post every evening on Twitter and Instagram my efforts each day. To save time, it will be in one post. If you would like to follow me to keep updated with my Preserve the Harvest goal please click on the links to follow along.
