It is absolutely crucial to have goals. Goals give us direction and something to strive for, like a purpose if you will. Many of us have goals that we don’t outwardly say or write down to make them “official”, but we have them none the less. Some of us actively envision our goals on a daily basis to manifest them into reality. Some of us just dream our dreams but never take the steps to make them come true.
I decided a while ago to have 1 goal for the month instead of many goals. My goal for this month is to establish the habit of Meal Planning. I would like to work on weekly plans in my new meal planner. I’m a foodie for sure. The hard part about meals to me is planning them. Many evenings I spend lots of time walking from the refrigerator to pantry and back again. Having a plan helps me to eat at the times I want instead of getting hangry and eating late in the evening.
To establish this Goal habit I must:
Be consistent. On a weekly basis I need to take the time to write down my meal plan. I like to also make bulk meals such as four casseroles at once, I’ll bake one and freeze the other three for other nights. I also like to assemble crockpot kits to freeze for days that will be extremely busy. I also freeze meats with the marinade already in the bag so that when I pull the meat out to defrost, the meat has time to soak up the marinade. This saves me time and the extra dishes. I will keep track of my progress using a habit tracker and social media. This will help me to stay accountable.
Keep it interesting. I will add new recipes to try to accomplish my goal. I enjoy trying new recipes along with tried and true ones to have the comfort of favorites and adventure with the newer ones. I will also have alternates on the menu so that I can switch it up if I’m feeling like eating something different.
Celebrate Accomplishments. I will reward myself at the end of each week by indulging in a pampering selfcare such as; a stroll at the park, a luxurious soak in the tub, try a new bath product, do a facial mask, paint my nails, learn a new skill, getting new pens for my planning, or getting a new herbal tea to try.
