August Goals!

It is absolutely crucial to have goals.  Goals give us direction and something to strive for.  Many of us have goals that we don’t outwardly say or write down to make them “official”, but we have them none the less.  Some of us live for our goals.

Have you yet sat down and outlined your goals for the month of August?  I try to sit down the last week of the month and write out my goals for the next one.  Many times I write out this elaborate plan on how I’ll accomplish these 30 goals but alas each month only has four and half weeks in it.  So I decided I need to try something different.

I recently watched a YouTube video by Brian Tracy.  In this video Brian states that our goals are more obtainable when we have 1 big goal instead of many goals.  I have found that I agree with Brian’s philosophy.  I know that I like he points out, concentrate more on the smaller things to get them out of the way and neglect the bigger goals.

In light of this new (to me) knowledge I will have one big goal for August.  My Big goal is to improve my physical health.  Now there will be smaller goals that correlate with the large goal This will help me to accomplish my master goal for August and to set into my routine what needs to continue from there.

To Improve my physical health I must:

Get more strict with my diet.  I have been loosely following the Trim Healthy Mama eating plan.  When I was strictly following I had lost 70 pounds.  I felt amazing and had oodles of energy.  Since I have loosened the reigns, I have back slid quite a bit regaining a good portion of the weight I had lost.

Exercise more regularly.  I have been slipping on my walking and need to add exercise back into my routine.  I feel that diet and exercise go hand in hand since the way I was eating before kept my energy levels up.

Drink more water.  This is yet another one I have been slipping on.  I know I honestly know better, yet have let it slip.  I would like to maintain a gallon per day average.

To keep me accountable I will post every evening on Twitter and Instagram my food journal picture for the day, my water consumption and my exercise for the day.  To save time, it will be in one post.  If you would like to follow me to keep updated with my August Physical Health goal please click on the links at the beginning of this paragraph or at the top of this page.

What is your big goal for August?

  1. I agree with your goals – I definitely want to start exercising more regularly… it’s so hard sometimes. What is your plan for staying on track? Do you have a diary or agenda, maybe reminders on your phone? Would love to know.

    • Thank you. I agree life does get in the way of exercising. I am using an alarm on my phone to tell me when to exercise. I also have a Fitbit to keep track of when and how I exercise. For this month I will also be posting about it on Instagram and Twitter, for huge accountability.

  2. I like the sound of your goals! I definitely have drinking more water on mine too – I started this year really well, and felt so much better for it, but I’ve really let it slip over the past two or three months. Need to start drinking more again.😊
