World Kindness Day!

November 13, 2018

Showing kindness to others should be an everyday occurrence.  In the way we treat and talk to others we show our character.  Kindness is such a beautiful strength that you can share with this world.

Can you think of a time when you were overwhelmed by a complete stranger’s kindness?  I remember those times when the person in front of me paid for my breakfast order in the drive thru line.  Times when I was given the right of way, when it wasn’t my turn.

Many parents try to teach their children to be kind to others.  We are trying to teach our children that being kind helps others feel good.  Sometimes we miss the part about how it also makes us feel good also.

Some great ways to show kindness today would be to:

Hold the door.
Pay for the person next in line at the drive thru.
Leave a good review.
Help a neighbor
Share your lunch with a friend
Buy a military person’s meal
Bring a treat to work to share.
Help a lady load heavy items into her car.
Write a nice note to a friend or coworker
Give a friend a lift
Smile when people look at you.
Leave money in places for people to find
Buy someone a coffee
Do chores for a sibling without them knowing
Baby sit for a friend or family member for free
Volunteer at the nearest homeless shelter or soup kitchen.
Wash your significant other’s car.
Read to the children at the library.
Return a shopping cart for a fellow shopper at the grocery store.
Be kind to yourself.

Kindness is such a great strength that seems to be hidden from the world these days and only shown in trusted company.  Be bold with your kindness, to others and to yourself.  We need to be the change we want to see in the world.  Hopefully the more kindness we share the more it will catch on.  What better way to teach our young ones but by example!  Go out and spread your kindness around!
